Ondangwa Private Hospital is an existing hospital situated in Ondangwa. It offers private healthcare in the town of Ondangwa and surrounding settlements in the Oshana region of Namibia.
Ondangwa Private Hospital CC was incorporated on the 13th of February 2014. The hospital licence was issued in July 2014 paving way for the hospital to open its doors to the general public in August 2014 as the first private hospital in Ondangwa. The following is a brief narrative leading to the existence of Ondangwa Private Hospital:
Dr. H. L. Musweu established a medical practice in 2005 and operated this practice which gave birth to OPH. The hospital was setup by Dr H L Musweu and two other Medical Practitioners after realizing the need for private healthcare in Ondangwa Town, Setting up of the hospital was demand driven due to the fact that Ondangwa did not have a private hospital, hence people travelled to other towns to access private healthcare at hospital level. On commencing operations in August 2014, Ondangwa Private Hospital was mainly by GPs with no specialists practicing at the hospital. The first specialist joined the hospital in December 2014.
Ondangwa Private Hospital has a number of departments and facilities in an effort to meet the needs of the community. The following is a breakdown of the facilities available at Ondangwa Private Hospital: 2 Operating Theatres; Radiology and Imaging; female ward; male ward; paediatric ward; maternity ward; intensive care unit (adult); neonatal intensive care unit; pharmacy; casualty and emergency department; and a laboratory.

Ondangwa Private Hospital is a project that is headed by a team of doctors. Detailed below are brief profiles of key management team responsible for running the Hospital.
Dr Akutu A. Munyika is a specialist Surgeon with special interest in Endoscopic procedures and Minimal Access Surgery. He obtained his MBCHB at the University of Cape Town in 2006. He joined the department of Surgery at the University of Zimbabwe end of 2009 and obtained his Masters in General Surgery in 2013. Dr Munyika also hold a Fellowship in Surgery from the College of Surgeons of East, Central and Southern Africa (COSECSA), which he obtained in 2017. In 2021 Dr Munyika obtained an International Fellowship in Surgery from the American College of Surgeons (ACS). He attended several Minimal Access Surgery training, including but not limited to, IRCAD France (Strasburg), World Laparoscopic Hospital (India – New Delhi) as well as Laparoscopic short courses in South Africa. Dr Munyika has successfully conducted 3 basic laparoscopic workshops in Namibia. In 2018 Prof Zack Koto was the external facilitator (Northern Namibia), in 2019 Prof Damon Bizos was the external facilitator (Northern Namibia), and in 2022 he successfully conducted a Global Laparoscopic Advancement Program (GLAP) with SAGES in Windhoek (as a pre-COSECSA Conference workshop). Dr Munyika is the coordinator for minimal access surgery at Ondangwa Private hospital and Onandjokwe Intemediate Hospital.
Dr Munyika assumed a position of Managing Director for Ondangwa Private Hospital in December 2022. He also double as a consultant surgeon, with big drive in Minimal Invasive and Endoscopic Procedures.
He is a board member of Namibia National Reinsurance Company (NAMIBRE), Health Professional Council of Namibia (HPCNA), as well as Namibian Surgical Society (NSS).
He is the Managing Director of Ondangwa Private Hospital, one of the private hospitals located in north of Namibia, just about 100km to the Angolan Border. Ondangwa Private Hospital is a 60 beds centre of excellence with a rapidly developing endoscopic surgical unit. Minimal Access Surgery is offered in General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Urology, Gynaecology, ENT and Orthopaedic surgery at Ondangwa Private Hospital.
Sr Nokuthula Ndlela began her nursing career as a registered nurse in 1994. During her nursing carrier, she worked in South Africa and in Saudi Arabia where she worked for King Fahad National Guard and pursued pediatric critical care training. During her carrier, she rose to management positions in 2005 in and has worked for different companies in South Africa including Joint Medical Holdings and Netcare.
